print screen not paisting paint

Print screen not paisting in paint.

In XP you could hit the "Print Screen" button to take a screen shot of your desktop (as an example). when i do this with Vista i dont get any color on the screen shot, and i get a black bar on the right of the screen when i paste it to paint or to photoshop. almost as if the settings on my monitor was telling windows that it was a 19 inch wide by 17 in tall monitor. but its not. is anyone else having this problem or just me?

We have added feature in vista which work as better than print screen. It is called snipping tool. just type snipping on the search and try using it.

The original poster's problem is a well known issue with certain screen drivers (NVIdia GeForce) that exhibits with both print-screen AND the snipping tool. It appears to be rectified in the 5456.5 build (first build released to technical beta testers after Beta 2).
Also, the snipping tool is not available on all Vista SKUs.

i do have a geforce video card, 6200 i think. is this not an easy fix, meaning i need to get a new card or is this something i might be able to update?

As I wrote, the bug is fixed in a later build. There's not much you can do on your side.

on windows xp you could hit the "print screen" button and it would take a picture of the desktop (as an example) when i do that in Vista and then paste it in paint or photoshop it takes all the color out of my picture plus adds an extra 2 inches of black to the right side of the picture as if my monitor was 19x17 at the time i push print screen. any suggestions?

Works perfectly on my machine. I have a 6600GT card, 128 Mb ram running 88.61 Nvidia beta drivers. Post what card you are using as it may be a driver problem. Jonty
